Historia viva de un espacio arquitect\u00f3nico."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Este no es un libro de historia de la arquitectura al uso. No trata estilos ni etapas constructivas. La visi\u00f3n que aqu\u00ed se propone poco tiene que ver con el estudio formal de la arquitectura; pero tampoco lo hace con su interpretaci\u00f3n simb\u00f3lica. Apuesta por una dimensi\u00f3n transversal de la historia del espacio desde su uso y sus transformaciones, a trav\u00e9s de las constantes que realmente pudieron determinar la construcci\u00f3n de un edificio: la liturgia, la historia institucional y ceremonial, las fiestas locales o la vida cotidiana. Cada catedral fue una entidad aut\u00f3noma que se rigi\u00f3 por leyes y estatutos propios que tambi\u00e9n afectaron a su historia arquitect\u00f3nica y funcional. Desde la perspectiva del clero, la catedral se concentraba entre el altar mayor y el coro, con la organizaci\u00f3n del culto y sus posibles escenarios. Para reyes y autoridades, la catedral era el marco en el que justificar los or\u00edgenes divinos de su gobierno, en tanto que, para los fieles, la catedral era el gran edificio que albergaba sus se\u00f1as de identidad, entre las celebraciones y los santos de su devoci\u00f3n; un eslab\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nico entre tierra y cielo. Y con el paso del tiempo y las cambiantes necesidades de sus habitantes, los usos del espacio catedralicio cambiaban y se alteraban.
